SERDAR YALÇIN

President of the Jury - Musician

He completed his piano and composition education at two different conservatories with the highest honors. He studied orchestral conducting for six years at the Berlin Academy, graduating with the highest distinction in the last fifteen years. In Munich, he worked with the great conductor Sergiu Celibidache and was the only candidate to receive a scholarship throughout all academic years. He conducted many major orchestras, including the Munich Philharmonic and the Berlin Symphony. As a permanent conductor at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, he staged works such as 'Carmina Burana', 'The Magic Flute', 'Evita', and 'Fiddler on the Roof'. He served as music director for major productions like the Habitat opening ceremony, international Expos, and 'Lirik Tarih', 'Sultanların Dansı', and 'Tango Turco'. Possessing a broad musical perspective, he composed the conceptual musical 'Anlat Şehrazat', created long-running stage shows like 'Folklorama', and set many poems to music in a variety of styles. He composed the music for award-winning films such as 'Büyük Adam Küçük Aşk', 'İpekçe', and 'Gömlek', as well as for various documentaries and TV series. He adapted 'The Abduction from the Seraglio', staged in Vienna, for traditional Turkish instruments. He composed 'TangOpera', the world’s first tango opera. He also arranged Neşet Ertaş’s works for full orchestra. He currently serves as the music consultant for Türkiye İş Bankası and continues his work as a permanent conductor at the Istanbul State Opera.

ASU MARO

Journalist - Writer

Born in Istanbul, she began his journalism career at Cumhuriyet newspaper while she was a student at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. She wrote scripts for various television programs and his articles were published in many magazines. In 1996, she became the publication coordinator of the newly established Radikal İki and wrote about theater, cinema and music in the newspaper. Since 2005 she has been the publication coordinator of Milliyet Sanat Magazine,concurrently contributing columns on culture and arts for Milliyet newspaper. She has a book of interviews with Tuğrul Eryılmaz, titled '68'li ve Gazeteci'.

BURAK GÖRAL

Film Critic - Screenwriter

He is a graduate of Marmara University. Since the 1990s, she has written film critiques for various publications. She worked as an assistant on the film Anatomy of a Man and has served as a script consultant, editor, and columnist in numerous outlets. She wrote the radio play Under the Same Roof for TRT and was part of the screenwriting team of the TV series Pilli Bebek. She has published four books on cinema and wrote the screenplays for three feature films (11:45 PM, Forget Me Not, There Is a Loneliness in This Business). She is a jury member of the Sadri Alışık Theatre and Cinema Acting Awards, teaches screenwriting at MSM and YAPIMLAB, and currently writes for Oksijen newspaper.

CUMHUR CANBAZOĞLU

Music and Cinema Writer

He is a graduate of the Istanbul University School of Press and Broadcasting. He began his journalism career at Hürriyet newspaper. For many years, he served as the editorial director of Cumhuriyet Dergi, where he also wrote film and music critiques. He published two books: 'Kentin Türküsü: Anadolu Pop-Rock' in 2009, and 'Günlerin İçinden Canım / 100 Years of Popular Orchestras and Bands in Turkey (1923–2022)' in 2023. He continues to produce film and music content—remaining true to his editorial voice—on his personal website, sinemamuzik.com.

MÜGE TURAN

Film Critic

Since 2000, she has worked as a writer and editor for various magazines such as Time Out Istanbul and Empire. Since 2008, she has been serving as the Film Curator at Istanbul Modern Art Museum. She is a PhD candidate in the Cinema Department at the University of Toronto, specializing in sound. As a member of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics), she has served on juries at various festivals from Cannes to Toronto. She continues to write film articles for magazines like Bant Mag and Altyazı.
